How to build a hopper egg farm
This is a hopper egg farm built on Java edition 1.21.5.
This is a very simple build for an egg farm. Chickens will drop eggs even without grass or any type of food. This makes this an ideal early build to get eggs in Minecraft. This farm works by placing chickens in to a pen above hoppers which collect the eggs as the chickens lays them.
Eggs are the main product of this build and can be used for the following things:
Hatching - eggs can be thrown and there's a chance that they will hatch baby chickens.
Crafting - can be used to make cakes.
Crafting - can be used to make pumpkin pie.
Attacking - eggs can be thrown as a projectile, they deal no damage but push entities back slightly.
Trading - eggs can be traded in some villager trades.
Eggs are mainly gained from chickens in Minecraft, they lay them every 5-10 minutes. They can also be found:
Chests - usually in a fletcher villager chest.
Foxes - sometimes a fox will spawn holding an egg that they will drop when killed.
Glass block
In this section we will discuss the materials and the ingredients that we need to make this build. This will give a concise list of the items and the recipe's to make them.
Hopper
Chest
Here we will explain in detail how to build a hopper egg farm in Minecraft. Please follow the instructions carefully.

First lets place down a double chest to make a large chest.
Next lets place 8 hoppers down so that they lead into the chest.

Next place glass blocks all around the back 6 hoppers and covering the 2 hoppers directly behind the chest.
Place the glass blocks 2 blocks high so that your chickens won't escape.

Next place chickens on top of the hoppers inside the glass blocks.
Now we wait for the eggs to be laid.
What can go wrong - eggs not in the chest
Ensure that the hoppers lead correctly into the chest.
Eggs stack 16 not 64 so will have to be emptied more often.
Additional builds
Transport - we can add a transport system that can take the eggs away.
